Our thatch roof cottage is ideal for a family of four. It has a bathroom leading off the main bedroom and two single beds upstairs in the loft. A cot for babies is also available. There is a small kitchenette with a microwave, kettle, fridge and a hotplate (for self catering guests). We have a television with DSTV in the lounge area of the cottage. Under cover parking is available next to the cottage. English or continental breakfasts are served on the verandah overlooking the pool and dam or if preferred, in the cottage. We also serve dinner on request. Guests can enjoy walks in tranquil surroundings on the farm. We have a bird hide on the dam for those who enjoy bird watching. For the keen fisherman, the dam is the ideal place to relax, just remember to bring your own rods. Our dam is also perfect for canoeing and rowing boats. We have an ideal mountain bike terrain through our plantations. Our swimming pool can be enjoyed by those who want to relax and soak up the sunshine. If guests are interested in seeing the farming activity, drives can be arranged to do so. Arrangements can also be made for the following activities: game viewing, horse riding and hunting.
De Pakhuys offers a choice of two self-catering cottages. Choose between De Pakhuys Chalet that sleeps 6 people or romantic Waboomhuys, sleeping two (plus one child). De Pakhuys Chalet De Pakhuys Chalet is named after the original farm, Pakhuis, established in the late 1700's by Dutch settlers moving north from the Cape Town area. The cottage has two bedrooms, one and half bathrooms and has been extensively renovated and luxuriously furnished to accomodate 6 guests in comfort. The air-conditioned unit will ensure utmost comfort during the hot summer months and the fireplace makes for cosy winter evenings. The chalet offers all modern comforts including Satellite Television, land line telephone, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, full bathroom with shower and bath tub. The chalet offers beautiful views of the surrounding farmland and towering Cederberg mountain range in all directions. Guests are welcome to enjoy the swimming pool on a hot summer's day, have a braai outside, or simply relax and admire the view. Braai packs are available on request and wood is provided free of charge. Waboomhuys Cottage Waboomhuys is a romantic cottage for two, comfortably appointed and overlooking the sparkling swimming pool. It offers a generous living area with jetmaster fireplace, bathroom with shower and well equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave, two-plate stove and oven, cutlery, crockery and all utensils needed for a comfortable stay. Towels, bed linen and fire wood are provided free of charge. Enjoy the outside braai facilties (braai packs are available on request) and relax next to the inviting swimming pool. The farm offers a beautiful scenic drive to the top section of the farm accessible only with a 4x4 vehicle. The top section of the farm consists of 60 ha of rooibos tea lands and 260 ha of unspoilt fynbos gorges and wild flowers during season. Montanus is an up-market home with all the essential elements for a comfortable stay. The house sleeps 8, in 4 beautifully appointed, spacious bedrooms, each on a different level. Three rooms have double beds and the fourth bedroom has twin beds. Each bedroom is en-suite, with both shower and bath. Large built in cupboards and a dressing table completes each room. All towels and linen are provided. Living Area An open plan living area of lounge, dining room and conversation nook, is spacious and beautifully furnished. A fire place, essential for Clarens winters and cold evenings is situated in this area. Leading out from two sliding doors, an outdoor patio complete with outdoor furniture and a built in braai, lends itself to unending views over Clarens, the surrounding Rooiberg, and the distant Maluti Mountains of Lesotho. There is also full complement of DSTV channels provided together with a large flat screen TV for all the guests to enjoy. The kitchen overlooks the living area, and is fully self catering with granite counters, under-counter oven, glass top hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, and other appliances. From the kitchen, there is a scullery complete with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, and wash-up area. Recently, the original 9-hole golf course has been developed and upgraded to an 18-hole course by developers, Pinnacle Point. The par 72 golf course, has been designed and constructed by Golf Data. All 18 holes meander along and across the tranquil river and its splendid series of trout dams and cascading waterfalls. The new Club House is well appointed and offers wonderful mountain views.
