Insly values your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.
Information We Collect
- Account information (name, email, phone)
- Preference data
- Reviews and submissions
- Device and usage analytics — including which listings you open, how long you spend on them, what you search for, and what you save. With your consent this is linked to your account; without it, it is counted in aggregate only.
- Booking and transaction data

We use data to:
- Personalize results
- Improve recommendations
- Calculate trust scores
- Prevent fraud
- Improve platform performance
- Communicate updates
Cookies, Analytics and Your Choices
We ask your permission before doing anything with your data that is not needed to run the site. You can change or withdraw that permission at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as agreeing was, and takes effect immediately.
There are three categories:
- Strictly necessary — signing you in, keeping your session secure, and remembering your privacy choices. These are not based on consent, because the site cannot provide the service you asked for without them.
- Measurement — Google Analytics, so we can see which pages are used and what is broken. Off unless you turn it on. If you do not consent, the Google Analytics script is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set.
- Personalisation — linking what you view, search and save to your account so we can rank results for you, build your For You feed, and send you relevant updates. Off unless you turn it on.
- Advertising — Google AdSense, which we show on our Feed, Ranker, Community and Reviews pages only. Google sets its own cookies and may use your browsing behaviour to choose which ads you see. Off unless you turn it on; with it off, those pages simply carry no ads. Ads are always labelled so you can tell them apart from our own content. You can also manage how Google personalises ads to you at myadcenter.google.com.
If you do not consent to personalisation, we still count page and listing views so that businesses can see how their own listing is performing. Those counts are not linked to you, carry no lasting identifier for your device, and cannot be used to build a profile of you.
We keep a record of each privacy decision — what you chose, when, and which version of this policy it applied to — because the law requires us to be able to show that consent was given, not merely to assert it.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data.
We may share limited information with:
- Service providers
- Payment processors
- Legal authorities when required
Security
We use:
- Encrypted authentication (via auth.insly.co.za)
- Secure storage practices
- Role-based access control
- Fraud monitoring systems
Your Rights
Insly is operated from South Africa and processes personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Under that Act you may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
- Have inaccurate or outdated information corrected
- Ask us to delete information we no longer have grounds to keep
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including the aggregate listing statistics described above
- Withdraw consent for measurement or personalisation at any time, from the Cookie preferences link in the footer
- Opt out of direct marketing
- Complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully — inforegulator.org.za
